UPS Stores (United Parcel Service) New York New York Review

This is a warning to other consumers that are considering using UPS post box services for their mail needs. I have had a UPS box for over three years and have recently moved into a new apartment. nI attempted to file a change of address form with the United States Postal Service (USPS). USPS will not accept change of address forms that seek to change an individual’s mailing address from a place of business. In other words, no change of address can be filed for a UPS Box. This has been confirmed. nUpon inquiring with the UPS Store about this policy, they repeatedly (on several occassions) told me that I was wrong and that USPS does accept change of address forms. They also noted that UPS Stores do not offer any independant mail forwarding services. They also suggested to me that I extend my contract for my UPS Box. nThe kicker – after your UPS contact expires, they dispose of any and all mail sent to your attention, leaving the customer with no option other than to extend the contracts for additional months (which means more money for UPS). nAs those who have moved into a new residence are aware, it is impossible to change every single mailing address, which is why the “catch-all”” USPS mail forwarding is essential. nI will no longer use UPS for any of my mailing needs. Be smart – go with a USPS box. nChelseanNew York
