I am 68 years old and I need to buy a warranty plans for my properties in order to take vacation or to prevent incapacity since I am single and alone. I searched for internet and looked a few companies. Colonial found I was searching for service, they called me to offer a three years plans for best value. So I bought it. It started my nightmare.nIt costs me over $3300 while I am so poor to even make my mortgage payments. It took out from my ATM account with Citibank.nThe first call was from my tenant for the problem of well pump. They did not sent out a well pump specialist, they just sent out a regular plumber. He told my tenants the pump was fine while the house had no water. He collected $45. Then I called Colonial, they told me that they would not cover electrical problem, plumbing problem, only the pump. But my question is why did they send a specialist for the problem. So I had to order water truck to truck in the water three times to fill up the tanks which costs me over $550. Since the problem was contune existing, so I call Superior Pump to take care it. It costed me over $800 to fix whatever the problems with the system. Colonial did not want to touch it or pay me a dime. My tenants were so mad, they moved out after 5 months even though they had one year lease. Now other tenants tried to call for two leaking faucets issue. She told me the contractors never respont the calls. The Problem with Colonial is also they are using non-license contractors. My house had electrical problems, part of the out lets and lights did not work. I asked for service, they sent me an electrician hardly speaking English and told my gardener he was looking for rewiring my house. So he told Colonial that my house is over loaded with electrical. I got denied. My house had completed remodeling in 1995 and passed all inspections, I never changed anything. It was fine all the time until now. Then I called for a jaccuzi which did not work. They sent the plumber, he told me it is electrical outlet problem. So I refused to pay the deductible since I already reported the electrical problem which they never fixed any way. So the company asked me not to hold up the plumber and pay the deductible. They would wave the deductible for me when they send an electrician to fix the problem. They never sent anybody. I had another problem with hotwater heater was not working in another rental units. The plumber looked at the heater and call Colonial it looks new. Colonial immediately wanted me to call Sears for the warranty even though it is 5 years old and I may not buy additioal warranty. It was 4:00P.M.. I had no time to call other contractor and my tenants need hot water to take a bath. So I ended paying the same Plumber $165 to fix the problem. Then I wanted to cancelled my policies so many times, they decided to pay $45 my deductible and $65 which the plumber should be charged to me. The money never got to me even though I already faxed it to them. They told me the agreement is to buy out the heater. I had asked for so many times to cancel policies, they never refund me any money back. They just want to take your premium. Never use the company any more.
