I contacted my warranty company and they dispatched Authorized Service Center. A technician came out and after checking him unit which was less than 5 minutes. I asked what the issue was and the technician stated it was capacitor. He changed the capacitor had my wife sign the invoice and left. On Christmas morning my smoke alarm went off and smoke filled my upstairs attic I ran upstairs and checked the unit and I saw sparks coming from my unit and smoke. I quickly turned the unit’s main power off. I contacted my warranty company again to submit a recall. Authorized Service sent another technician out and he stated the heating assembly burned up along with all wires. Will need a new board transfer and a heat kit to make proper repairs or unit will have to be replaced. They called around for parts but no parts are available. I called the company back to notify them that I wanted a 2nd opinion. I hire another company to come out and check my unit and the company stated that the issue was caused by the blower motor amps which should have been checked because after performing a diagnose the technician should of realized that the amps were too high and it would cause the unit to get too hot and burn and melt the wires. He showed me on my unit’s diagram that the limit was 2.6 and if the amps go higher than that it would cause the wires to burn and melt. I called the company (authorized service to report and to send proof of this and they transferred me to someone. The person immediately went on the defensive and told me that is not truce how could that be, according to my 2nd opinion. He was very upset and refused to let me talk during the process. At the end of the conversation he told me I have 2 choices, either get the unit replaced or not and I told him my choices at this point was fix it or not or file a small claims against the company. The rep got very upset and told me to just take him to court and hung up the phone. I called in the first place to report this and to hope the compnay would work something out with me in referance to paying part of the $740.00 due to them, I would have been happy no issues but they left me no choice when they hung up abruptly in my face to file a small claims against the company.Your Desired Resolution:I want authorized service center to pay all or part of the $740.00 I have to pay to get my unit replaced. The issue was caused by the technician and was backed up by 2 more independent heating and AC technicians I hired 2nd and 3rd opinions. What reason do 2 more independent companies have to lie about a repair that was not diagnose properly which almost caused a fire in my home? I also want an appology in writing for hanging up in my face and being unprofessional and not allowing me to state my case and work something out with Authorized Service Center. It was a concern and I just wanted to let the compnay know of my concern which went unheared.I will file a small claims in the amount of 5,000 dollars which is it is going to cost me to replace including installations.
