My roommate called me at work to tell me a water pipe broke in my front yard. I called ABC plumbing to fix it. They said the cost for the estimate would be $79 and I agreed. When the plumber arrived he called me and said that there was a small leak from the main water line and he needed to dig a hole to check it and it would be another $149. Then he called and said that the small leak had miraculously disappeared and a small piece of sand might have plugged the leak. He wanted to charge me another $250 to pressurize the water line and find this leak. He said after everything would be done it would run around $750. This didn’t even have anything to do with the broken landscaping pipe that I had called them to fix. I told him I would get a second opinion and he tried to talk me into doing the big job saying how dangerous it was. He never did fix the broken pipe and charged me $228. I had another plumber fix the broken pipe for $50 and said he couldn’t find any leaks on the main line. Also, my roommate overheard the plumber tell someone on his phone that they don’t know anything about plumbing. When I called ABC Plumbing to discuss the bill, they said the owner would not speak to me on the phone and I could write a letter if I wanted. nlarrynchandler, ArizonaU.S.A.
