1st American Plumbing Yorktown Virginia Review

Complete rip off company who prays on uninformed and elderly. Charges by the job to unsuspecting individualswho no little about plumbing costs. My mother who is 82 called them to have a sump pump replaced at her home. Pump was only 1/4 hp and A1 arrived with $78 service call only to tell her they suggested installing a 1/2 hp pump (1/4 hp worked fine for over 50 years) at a price of $3,300. Feeling pressured and unsure of what it should cost, my mother signed the form to have them replace it. After completing job they demanded payment from her on the spot. When she contacted me later I researched cost of installed sump pump which was $300 retail, so they effectively charge her $3,000 for 4 hours of work. Criminal in charging $750 an hour labor to an elderly widow who didn’t know better. Should have done research into company as they have a F Better Business Bureau rating with long history of ripping off military wives and widows. When calling others plumbers, pump should have been replaced for about $800 – $900 and not the $3,300 these scam artists charged. Will do my best to get word out on A1 American’s unethical business practices. Runnnnnn as fast as you can from this company!
